The Chair in Slovak History and Culture at the University of Ottawa is pleased to announce its call for applications for Research Fellowships for 2025.
A primary aim of the Chair in Slovak History and Culture is to foster Slovak and Central European studies in Canada and internationally, by encouraging research and training in this field. This is done also by offering scholarships and research bursaries for undergraduate and graduate students and established external scholars, to support research in the Slovak Archives at the University of Ottawa that leads to publications or the dissemination of results in other forms.
For 2025, the following Scholarship and Research Bursaries are opened to external scholars:
Adela and John Ridzon Memorial Scholarship and Research Bursary
Helen and John Ivanco Memorial Scholarship and Research Bursary
Skladany-Repansky Family Scholarship and Research Fund in Slovak Studies
The deadline for all applications is February 28, 2025.
If you wish to apply to any of the above-mentioned scholarships and bursaries, please send your application with the following documents to the chairholder (roman.krakovsky@uottawa.ca):
Research proposal (2,000 words), providing an explanation of the project and the justification of the funding of the research being undertaken and how the proposed new direction will assist in the development of the field.
Budget and its justification. The budget should include travel and accommodation costs, as well as living costs during the research period.
CV including major publications (5 pages max).
We do not make adjustments to the grant amount after the grant is awarded, so candidates should make every effort to base their estimated expenses on careful projections of all items in the grant budget.
